Glossary entry
Repatriation
Repatriation means moving money back to your country of residence from another country. In an India context it usually refers to sending funds out of India, which is subject to rules, conditions and documentation. Whether and how much can be repatriated depends on the type of account and the nature of the funds, and the rules are set by regulation and applied by banks. Ask your Indian bank early, and keep records that explain the source and purpose of the money. See also: NRE account, NRO account, RBI, and the guide NRI Bank Accounts Explained.
